How Does Semaglutide Work?

Your body naturally produces several substances that affect your appetite. One of these is called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). The body produces GLP-1 naturally when you eat. GLP-1 stops you from feeling hungry and makes you feel full or satisfied.
Semaglutide imitates GLP-1 in the body. This means that Semaglutide provides the same effect as this natural substance (GLP-1) in our bodies.

Who Can Take Semaglutide?
Adult and teenage patients who are looking to lose weight! Semaglutide is FDA approved for adults & teenagers with a BMI 27 or above.

Semaglutide is extremely effective for helping obese and overweight patients lose weight. It is safe for individuals with hypertension, type-2 diabetes and dyslipidemia.
Who Cannot Take Semaglutide?
You CANNOT take Semaglutide if you have any of the following conditions:
- Personal or family history of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC)
- Personal or family history of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia, type 2 (MEN 2)
- Prior allergic reaction to Semaglutide or to any of its ingredients*
- Diabetic retinopathy (diabetic eye disease)
- Breast-feeding (Semaglutide is present in breast milk)
- Depression with a history of suicidal thoughts
- History of pancreatitis
- Kidney disease/kidney insufficiency
- Stomach problems
- diabetes—you must obtain approval for use from endocrinology or primary care physician)
What Are the Ingredients in Semaglutide
The FDA recently issued a warning about compounded Semaglutide that is made with Semaglutide SALT. We want to assure our current and future patients that our compounded Semagltuide is made with Glycogon-Like Peptide-1 – the same active ingredient found in the brand name drugs Ozempic and Wegovy. We use an FDA-registered and New York stated certified compounding pharmacy that is compliant with all FDA recommendations and regulations. Our pharmacy DOES NOT USE SEMAGLUTIDE SALT!

Tirzepatide
Tirzepatide (Zepbound brand) is used for weight loss, to help lose weight and keep weight off. Tirzepatide works for weight loss by decreasing appetite and slowing the movement of food from the stomach into the small intestine, which may make you feel full more quickly and for a longer period of time. Tirzepatide is a once-weekly injection given under the skin using a pen (autoinjector).
Zepbound (tirzepatide) is FDA-approved for weight loss in adults with obesity or who are overweight and have weight-related medical problems. Zepbound helps you to lose weight and maintain weight loss and should be combined with diet and exercise.
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for Type 2 Diabetes
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro brand) is used for type 2 diabetes to help improve blood sugar levels. In type 2 diabetes, tirzepatide decreases blood sugar levels by helping release insulin when blood sugar levels are high, lowering the amount of sugar the liver makes, and slowing food movement through the intestines. Mounjaro should be used together with diet and exercise.
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is FDA-approved to treat adults with type 2 diabetes and should be used together with diet and exercise. It can be used as a single therapy (on its own) or with other diabetes medicines, including sulfonylureas, SGLT2 inhibitors, or metformin.
It is not known if Tirzepatide
It is not known if tirzepatide can be used in people who have had pancreatitis. Tirzepatide should not be used in people who have type 1 diabetes.
Mounjaro and Zepbound both contain the same active ingredient, tirzepatide and are made by Eli Lilly and Company. They are both available as single-dose pens in the same strengths: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, and 15 mg per 0.5 mL, and Zepbound is available as single-dose vials 2.5 mg/0.5 ml and 5 mg/0.5 ml.
